CHRIST IS CENTRAL TO US

ONE BREAD, ONE BODY

Faith.  Family.  Friendship.

Welcome to Central Christian Church, which has served the Mahoning Valley and beyond since 1803.  We are the oldest serving congregation in the state of Ohio!  We are a self-governing body that believes all are welcome to serve in Christ's name.

Our congregation has open arms to people of all backgrounds.  Whether you are young or young-at-heart, seeking spiritual solace in a time of need, or are just looking for fellowship and friendship in Christ, you are a blessing.  We are so grateful to have you with us.

Our Services and Sanctuary

Our worship services begin at 10:00 a.m. every Sunday.  We have a variety of special music features from month to month, as well as several educational opportunities in Sunday school and weekly Bible study.  There is something for everyone, from the communion table to the kitchen table!  We have coffee and donuts available after worship.  Our locally-renowned pecan rolls and pot-luck dinners are served once a month.  Please check our calendar of events for more information.
You are always welcome in our sanctuary, which houses the Heim Organ, the largest pipe organ in Trumbull County!  Our state-of-the-art sound system comes equipped with accommodations for the hearing impaired.  We also have a chair-lift to the basement, sanctuary, second, and third floors.  We have a library filled with religious resources for you to check out at any time.  We have a nursery for infants as well as Junior Church for school-aged children.  We are always looking for new and eager servants to join our many boards and committees.

About Pastor Marc

Picture
Marc Runyon, an ordained minister in the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), grew up in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, about an hour’s drive west of Warren.  He has two grown children:  Eric, who lives in St. Louis, Missouri with his wife, Ashley; and Heather, who lives in Muscatine, Iowa with her husband, Zach.  Marc has two sisters and a brother who live in Ohio and another brother who lives in New York City.
Marc loves the joys and challenges of congregational ministry.  You’ll find him fielding jokes from kids during the “Time with Young Worshippers” on Sunday mornings to sometimes rolling dough or working in the “Nut Room” when Central Christian bakes its famous pecan rolls.  His strengths in ministry include preaching, teaching, and pastoral care, as well as weddings and funerals.
Raised in the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), Marc really appreciates that tradition’s core values of open communion, intelligent faith, personal freedom and responsibility for one’s beliefs, and the centrality of a vital relationship with Jesus Christ.  Every sermon Marc delivers ends with the phrase, “and that is Good News, indeed,” signaling his conviction that, despite the messiness of our lives, following the Jesus-Way-of-Life leads to unshakeable joy and that, in the words of Romans 8:38:  “Nothing will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord."

From the congregation...

"Never in my lifetime did I think that I would ever find so many people that I would be honored to call friend. Here at Central Christian Church I not only found friends, I found family. The kindnesses and support that they have shown goes beyond what I ever could have imagined.  Central Christian Church is a place that I feel honored to call not only my home but my place of work. When I came here to work several years ago, I teased them that I was the heathen among them. Slowly, I started coming to church here as well as working here. I felt at home here and safe to grow with Christian guidance in God. I eventually rededicated my life to God through baptism. I am proud to say that the support and guidance that I found here at Central Christian Church from the congregation led me back to God. My granddaughter, Lydia and I are now a part of this wonderful supportive church family.”
